My Review:

The first two books in this series were good. No, actually they were amazing! I loved all the action and suspense. However, this final book had a lot of "WTF?" moments. The beginning was so boring. I had such a hard time trying to get through the first half of the book that it literally took me about a week and a half to finish this book (I usually finish books within two days. So that says a lot about this one). I don't know what it was that made me take forever to read this book, but the initial fascination and excitement that I felt when I read Divergent was just gone. Poof! Plus some of the plot twists and character deaths just made me want to hurl my copy across my room my yard and into the garbage can!

The Beginning:

When Uriah died, I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! LoL Veronica Roth's kidding! She won't kill off my favorite character in this series... that would be just absurd.  Then I went back to re-read the previous paragraphs and realized he did indeed die!

Please, Veronica,  don't kill Tris and PLEASE DON'T KILL FOUR!! PRETTY PLEASE!!!?

Then the ending came and I was like THANKYOU for not killing Four, but you killed Tris!?

My Review:

            Crazy. Mind blowing. Frustrating. Ahhhhhh there was just so much going on. The world in Insurgent is much darker and even more exciting. Each chapter raises the stakes as the story continues with a fast pace. The characters in this book are much more alive and easy to connect with. They have grown so much since the last book, especially, Tris. she has become brave, independent, and strong. I truly admire that in a female lead. She didn't back down from a fight, she wasn't one of those airheaded main characters, and her attitude spoke through the pages.       

            The same goes for the plot. At every turn I was sucked right into the story. The pace was fast, there was lots of action and the fights were realistic. Some of the things that happened in this book I didn't see coming at all. You would think one minute a character is one of the good guys and the next you think they aren't. I really liked that most of the plot was based on the war and society, and not solely on the romance in this book. Don't get me wrong, the romance was amazing, but it didn't lose focus from the issues at hand.

            Tris and Tobias are together and fighting for a better future for the Divergent. Along the way they make new friends who want the same thing as them. They conspire, and make plans to take the city back and let everyone live freely. However, there are always obstacles in the way inorder to achieve something great. Tris and Tobias go through many rough patches and when they make it outside the wall, things truly start to get interesting. Overall, an awesome book to read. Lots of action, drama, betrayal, and deception.

My Review:

Wow. Breathe, Sammy. Breathe.

This. Was. Good. It seems like all Dystopian novels recently are being compared to The Hunger Games and are very similar in some aspects. However, after reading Hunger Games I honestly didn't think any other novel could top such creativity and character development, but Divergent did. In my book, these two series have been an amazing roller coaster ride and I enjoyed every minute of it. To those of you who didn't like this book:

I just have to ask, "Did we even read the same book!?"

Anyways the plot was mind blowing. I loved the idea of the factions which was similar to the districts in Hunger Games, but I'll let that slide because of Tobias. 

OHHH! Tobias. You sexy man you! Speaking of characters...

Tobias was an awesome male lead. He has his ups and downs at times, but over all I actually liked his attitude and behavior. He didn't want to be just one faction, instead he wanted to have a little bit of all of the qualities. Tris, on the other hand, was an okay character. At first I didn't have any reaction to her character at all; She seemed dull and boring. However, I started to like her when she choose the Dauntless and proved  that she could do anything. She became a strong independent woman who didn't back down from a fight. I instantly hated Tris's brother and Eric (the training leader at Dauntless) and I don't even know why. Overall, the character development was good and I enjoyed reading from Tris's point of view. This was a quick read with lots of action, drama, and suspense. 

Movie Review:

So it's always exciting to find out that one of your favorite books is going to be turned into a movie. When I found out Divergent was going to be played on the big screen I literally screamed with joy. I absolutely couldn't wait for the movie to come out and get to see the characters. I am so happy with the cast of Divergent because all the characters fit the descriptions and they are smoking hot. And by smoking hot I mean Tobias. A.K.A Theo James.
