Goodreads Synopsis:
My name- my True Name-
is ashallayn' Darkmyr Tallyn. I am the last remaining son of Mab, queen of the Unseelie Court . And
I am dead to her. My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl...
To cold faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals
and fools. His own love had died a horrible death, killing any gentler feelings
the Winter prince might have had. Or so he thought. Then Meghan Chase - a half
human, half fey slip of a girl - smashed through his barricades, binding him to
her irrevocably with his oath to be her knight. And when all of Faery nearly
fell to the Iron fey, she severed their bond to save his life. Meghan is now
the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer fey can survive.
With the unwelcome company of his archrival, Summer Court
prankster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a journey
he is bound to see through to its end - a quest to find a way to honor his vow
to stand by Meghan's side.
To survive in the Iron Realm, Ash must have a soul and a
mortal body. But the tests he must face to earn these things are impossible.
And along the way Ash learns something that changes everything. A truth that
challenges his darkest beliefs and shows him that, sometimes, it takes more
than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice.
My Review:
The last three books have been
from Meghan's point of view. In this final book we get to see everything
through Ash's point of view. His fall began when he fell for Meghan and now he
has been banished from the Unseelie court by his mother. He is the last
remaining son of Mab, and he has no home.
After defeating the false king,
Meghan is now back at Nevernever ruling over the Iron real, where no summer or
winter faery can survive. Being the new queen and ruling her kingdom is a very
difficult task. She is responsible for many iron lives, but without Ash at her
side she is lonely.
Ash is a winter faery and the
only way to survive in the Iron Realm is to have a soul and a mortal body. So Ashallayn'
darkmyr Tallyn, is on his way to find a way to become mortal and be with his
Iron Queen Meghan. During his journey he is accompanied by his best friend and
old rival summer court prankster Robin "Puck" Goodfellow, Grimalkin
the wise cat, his lost love Ariella (who was presumed dead in the last book)
and the big bad wolf. Traveling on this journey is very difficult and
dangerous, but Ash will do anything to be with Meghan.
The end is finally here and it
was an exciting journey. The characters have grown so much that if you read the
first book you can see the difference. Meghan choose Ash over Puck and I can
say that I'm satisfied with the ending. It was a long but interesting journey
and I truly enjoyed this unique piece of story.
