Goodreads Synopsis:

Violet thought she’d made peace with her unique ability to sense the echoes of the dead and the imprints that cling to their killers…that is until she acquired an imprint of her own. Forced to carry a reminder of the horrible events of her kidnapping, Violet is more determined than ever to lead a normal life. However, the people who run the special investigative team Violet works for have no intention of letting her go.

When someone close to Violet becomes a suspect in a horrific murder, she finds herself pulled into a deadly hunt for a madman with an army of devoted followers. Violet has survived dangerous situations before, but she quickly discovers that protecting those closest to her is far more difficult than protecting herself.

My Review:

Violet has been dealing with the aftermath of the kidnapping and what she had to do to survive. She is haunted by an ever-present music box tune that she constantly hears in her head. The imprint she can't ever escape from. Despite her problems, Violet still manages to go on with her life and just deal with what has happened to her. She is trying to get back to her normal routine and focus on her studies. But when two new students show up at White River high school, Violet is constantly reminded of how she is different, and not normal.

Finally, this thrilling series has come to an end. Violet has one more mystery to solve and then hopefully she can go back to her somewhat normal life. Derting created such psycho killers that it scares the bejesus out of me. It is one thing to create a murder mystery and have an interesting plot, but to create killers with such detail is amazing. I was awed at how Derting wrote the POV of the killers and to be inside their head was creepy, but awesome.

I felt like the characters grew to mature young adults in this final book. They came to their full potentials and blew my mind. The ending of course went out with a bang and I'm still amazed at how much I enjoyed reading this series. If you have your doubts then I understand how a creepy novel could put a damper in you happy life. But honestly, this series is worth the creepy scared feelings you will get at night cause it will not disappoint.
