Iron Knight #4 by Julie Kagawa

9659607Genre: Faery
Paperback: 399 Pages
Published: October 26, 2011
Series: The Iron Fey
            1. Iron King
            2. Iron Daughter
            3. Iron Queen
            4. Iron Knight
Rating:★★★★

Goodreads Synopsis:

My name- my True Name- is ashallayn' Darkmyr Tallyn. I am the last remaining son of Mab, queen of the Unseelie Court. And I am dead to her. My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl...

To cold faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals and fools. His own love had died a horrible death, killing any gentler feelings the Winter prince might have had. Or so he thought. Then Meghan Chase - a half human, half fey slip of a girl - smashed through his barricades, binding him to her irrevocably with his oath to be her knight. And when all of Faery nearly fell to the Iron fey, she severed their bond to save his life. Meghan is now the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer fey can survive.
With the unwelcome company of his archrival, Summer Court prankster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a journey he is bound to see through to its end - a quest to find a way to honor his vow to stand by Meghan's side.
To survive in the Iron Realm, Ash must have a soul and a mortal body. But the tests he must face to earn these things are impossible. And along the way Ash learns something that changes everything. A truth that challenges his darkest beliefs and shows him that, sometimes, it takes more than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice.

My Review:

The last three books have been from Meghan's point of view. In this final book we get to see everything through Ash's point of view. His fall began when he fell for Meghan and now he has been banished from the Unseelie court by his mother. He is the last remaining son of Mab, and he has no home.

After defeating the false king, Meghan is now back at Nevernever ruling over the Iron real, where no summer or winter faery can survive. Being the new queen and ruling her kingdom is a very difficult task. She is responsible for many iron lives, but without Ash at her side she is lonely.

Ash is a winter faery and the only way to survive in the Iron Realm is to have a soul and a mortal body. So Ashallayn' darkmyr Tallyn, is on his way to find a way to become mortal and be with his Iron Queen Meghan. During his journey he is accompanied by his best friend and old rival summer court prankster Robin "Puck" Goodfellow, Grimalkin the wise cat, his lost love Ariella (who was presumed dead in the last book) and the big bad wolf. Traveling on this journey is very difficult and dangerous, but Ash will do anything to be with Meghan.

The end is finally here and it was an exciting journey. The characters have grown so much that if you read the first book you can see the difference. Meghan choose Ash over Puck and I can say that I'm satisfied with the ending. It was a long but interesting journey and I truly enjoyed this unique piece of story.

            4. Iron Knight
Rating:★★★★

Goodreads Synopsis:

I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.

This time, there will be no turning back.

My Review:

The false king is still trying to take over the Nevernever and he needs one more thing to accomplish his goal: the power of the Iron King. The land is slowly being poisoned and more fey are dying everyday. Meghan, Ash, and Puck are still banished from their homes, but soon that will change when Oberon and Mab realize they need their help to take down the false king. The trio will no longer be banished if they can defeat the false king and save Nevernever. Summer and Winter are willing to work together to overcome their enemy. However, working together is a difficult task when Summer and Winter have had  decades of rivalry behind them. Meghan and her friends will team up to save all the fey before it's too late.

The characters are still hilarious and entertaining as the first book. I still love Puck who is more funnier now than he was before. Ash is still the biggest jerk, but has shown his sweeter side to Meghan. And Meghan has come to be a better character. Sure she made mistakes, fell for both guys, and created more problems then solved them, but she has turned into a stronger character. I like her now more than I did in the beginning and I think she has turned into a good leader.

Fast-paced, never a dull moment, and action packed; this is the shortest way to describe this book. I loved this interesting idea of fey and the technology that is hurting their survival. Kagawa created a unique piece of writing that has become popular and entertaining. Hopefully, the final book is just as exciting and action packed as the previous two.

Iron Daughter #2 by Julie Kagawa

7747064Genre: Faery
Paperback: 359 Pages
Published: August 1, 2010
Series: The Iron Fey
            1. Iron King
            2. Iron Daughter
            3. Iron Queen
            4. Iron Knight
Rating:★★★★

Goodreads Synopsis:

Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron fey—ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.

Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

My Review:

Meghan is in the Winter Court conflicted and torn between what she wants and what she must do. She is drawn to the Winter Prince Ash, but he has tried to kill her many times without success. But everyone knows that Winter and Summer are forbidden to be together since there has been an ongoing feud for centuries. Meanwhile the forces of Iron Fey are growing and beginning to rise again. However, the main question is: how will the stirrings affect Meghan and her companions?

Honestly speaking it took me a while for this book to get my attention. I admit the concept of Fey's was intriguing, the characters were fascinating and the plot was action packed, but for some odd reason it took more effort than usual for me to like this book. However, after finishing this book I was excited to find out what happens to Meaghan, Puck, and Ash. Their characters gripped my heart and made me love them. Kagawa is amazing at creating characters with so much potential that it flows from page to page.

Meghan was a sad, timid young lady in the beginning of the book, but as the story continued she realized what had to be done. She got over her issues and took charge. Ash was an arrogant jerk. He has feelings for Meghan, but refused to admit them. After Meghan confesses her feelings for Ash, she gets insulted by Ash in front of everyone. She still doesn't realize he doesn't want to be with her, and she doesn't see this at all. I felt like she was being stupid and she needs to move on. Puck on the other hand was awesome!! He is hilarious as ever. His character has grown on me so much. I loved how he got under Ash's skin and made him go crazy. Puck became Meghan's best friend in this series and he also had feelings for her. I'm not a fan of love triangles so this was probably the part that annoyed me most. Hopefully, the next book in the series picks up pace with the plot and Meghan picks who she wants to be with.

Goodreads Synopsis:

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil, no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart
My Review:
I was a little hesitant to pick this book up at first, because I'm not really a fan of fairies. They kind of creep me out. But since I didn't have any thing to do and heard great reviews, I thought what the heck I'll try it. As Soon as I read the first few pages I was sucked right in! This book has just the right amount of action, drama, romance, and comedy. The main character Megan, wasn't very confident in the beginning, she was shy and had a crush on the popular kid in school. But as the story picked up her character grew and she became brave, willing to do anything, even risk her life for her family.
One of the characters I found hilarious was Puck. He always had a funny remark to any question, always made light of a serious situation and kept me very entertained through out the book. He is involved in a love triangle with Megan and the winter prince Ash. Ash was an interesting character. Apparently Ash and Puck know each other, but they absolutely can't stand each other. At every turn they are ready to fight it out, but at the end Megan steps in the way to stop them. I found this book to be a quick read and I enjoyed every detail.
