Goodreads Synopsis:

After a nightmarish encounter with a werewolf, seventeen-year-old Adria Dawson loses her sister, but gains the love of a mysterious young man and his legendary family. Strange and tragic things begin to happen in the small town of Hallowell, Maine: residents come down with an unexplainable 'illness' and some disappear. In the midst of everything, Isaac Mayfair is adamant about keeping Adria safe, even from her sister whom he has warned her to stay away from. As unspeakable secrets unfold all around Adria, impossible choices become hers to bear. Ultimately, no matter what path she takes, her life and the lives of those she loves will be in peril. As she learns about the werewolf world she also learns why her place in it will change the destinies of many.

My Review:

I am so confused as to WHY people actually liked this book! I don't get it. The writing style was poor, the plot had holes in it, and the characters sucked ass (pardon my language). I didn't find anything wonderful about this book and I was so surprised to find that many people like it. There was no originality, the characters lacked depth, and the plot was boring!!!!!
The only thing I liked about this book was the cover and how the beginning of the book started. Yeh, yeh, don't judge a book by its cover...but I do it anyways. The point where I was like I am so done with this book was when Adria runs out on our hero in the book because she caught him with Rachel in bed. Why does he feel the need the explain anything to her? Why are they so in love? They don't even know each other. And this love at first sight crap was just not believable at all. I just don't get it!

And don't even get me started on the main character. I have never met anyone who is as stupid as Adria. I mean c'mon! I get that these books are for young adults, but the characters don't have to be dumbed down for the readers. I don't know...maybe it's just me, but I was so not feeling this book. It hurts to rate a book with one star, but that's what this book gets. Hopefully, the next book in this series is better, but I will not be taking the time to find out.

Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

6654313Genre: Wolves
Hardcover: 360 Pages
Published: July 13, 2010
Series: The Wolves of Mercy Falls
            1. Shiver
            2. Linger
            3. Forever
Rating:★

Goodreads Synopsis:

The astonishing #1 New York Times bestseller.

In Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping a very dangerous secret about her own well-being. For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past . . . and figuring out a way to survive into the future. Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack. And Isabelle, who already lost her brother to the wolves . . . and is nonetheless drawn to Cole.

My Review:

Hmm. When this book came out I wasn't sure if I wanted to read it. The first book was an epic fail in my opinion, but I wanted to give this series a chance to see if it would turn the story around. I'm sad to report that it did not.

We're back at Mercy Falls with Grace, Sam and their struggle of being together. Grace suddenly feels sick and is told that her destiny to become a wolf is near and she can't escape her fate. (Wait! What now??) In the first book Grace was introduced as a lonely human and now she is turning into a wolf! Okay that just seems odd. Why would she turn into a wolf and not know that she was able to? Sam on the other hand, is struggling with his new found life and dealing with the young wolves Beck brought with him from Canada. So basically, this book was very slow and the plot didn't really progress. The only thing that I noticed that was added to this was the point of views of Isabel and Cole which brought an interesting and fresh idea to the story. Overall, it just wasn't my cup of tea and I was really looking for something different to read.

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

6068551Genre: Werewolves
Hardcover: 390 Pages
Published: August 1, 2009
Series: The Wolves of Mercy Falls
            1. Shiver
            2. Linger
            3. Forever
Rating:★★★

Goodreads Synopsis:

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without.

Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human… until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing

himself, and Grace, forever.

My Review:

So I read this book right after Twilight came out and I was in love with the idea of wolves turning into humans. I mean it was a pretty popular topic a few years ago. So when I read Shiver I was interested in the book and I liked the story line. However, as I kept reading I realized it was very similar to Twilight.

Grace is basically a boring girl who loves to watch the wolves in her back yard. Her favorite one in particular is a yellow eyed wolf who she can't help but be drawn too. So when summer comes around and she meets a yellow eyed boy, she immediately thinks of the wolf. Turns out Sam (the wolf) lives two lives. During the winter he is forced to turn into a wolf and during the few months of summer he is human. Grace and Sam start to get to know each other and eventually they start to have feelings. But things start getting interesting when its winter again and Sam is struggling to turn into a wolf. He wants to stay human, but if he can't resist the change he won't turn human again. Will Grace and Sam be able to fight for their relationship or will life get in their way?

Overall, this book could have been a good one, but the fact that it is so similar to Twilight turns me off. I think Maggie could have used a little more originality and spruced things up. But after reading Twilight, Shiver just wasn't good in comparison.

Shadow of the Moon #4 by Rachel Hawthorne

Series: Dark Guardian
            1. Moonlight
            2. Full Moon
            3. Dark of the Moon
            4. Shadow of the Moon
Rating:★

Goodreads Synopsis:

I can feel every Shifter's emotions except Daniel's—

the only one whose heart I long to know.

HAYDEN was born a werewolf, a Dark Guardian. But her ability to sense the feelings of fellow werewolves has made her life unbearable. She runs away, only to be tracked by charming, mysterious Daniel, a newcomer to the pack and the one Shifter immune to her powers. As she reluctantly follows him home, Hayden finds herself falling dangerously in love. . . .

But even as her feelings for Daniel deepen, Hayden begins to wonder if he is who he claims to be. Where did he come from and why has no one ever seen him transform? When they stumble upon the body of a Shifter still in wolf form, her worries grow. Someone is killing her kind. Is her handsome tracker really a hunter? And is Hayden now his prey?

My Review:

No. Just No. In my opinion this series was well thought out but poorly executed. I know many of you who have read this series love this story, but I just can't get myself to like it. Believe me I tried. I read this entire series hoping for something to catch my attention or pull me into the plot. But I guess it just wasn't my cup of tea. I was looking forward to this series, but it did not live up to my expectations.
Hayden is in love with Daniel. He is the only one whose feelings she can't read. And their relationship is kind of weird. There are times when Daniel plays the empowering boyfriend and wants Hayden to submit to him. Even after she submits to him he touches her without consent. This just made Daniel seem pushy and disrespectful. I didn't like how he treated Hayden and Hayden just let him do what he wanted.

My feelings for this book/series:

Dark of the Moon #3 by Rachel Hawthorne

Series: Dark Guardian
            1. Moonlight
            2. Full Moon
            3.Dark of the Moon
            4. Shadow of the Moon
Rating:★

Goodreads Synopsis:

I've loved him forever, but he can never be mine.

BRITTANY is determined to prove herself to the Dark Guardians. And yet she's been keeping a devastating secret: She hasn't experienced any of the intense, early signs of change that mark a Dark Guardian's transformation. The only intense feelings she has are for Connor—and she's kept that a secret, too. But she knows she'll never truly have Connor's love if she's not a Shifter like him.

At the first full moon after her birthday, her greatest fear is realized: She doesn't transform. Brittany is so desperate to become a wolf that she'll go to extremes she never thought possible . . . and put all the Dark Guardians in incredible danger.

My Review:

Each book in this series is written from different characters point of view. Book number three is written from Brittany's POV. Let me honestly say that I did not like this concept. I hated how each book changed to a different character. I was getting used to one character then another one pops up in the next book. This was my biggest pet peeve in this series and I guess that's the main reason why I didn't like this series.

In the previous books, both Kayla and Lindsey went into depth about their boyfriends and how they are rebels. In this book Brittany, who seemed like she wasn't like the rest of the girls turned out to be just like them. She went into depth about her boyfriend and how he was a rebel. I felt like she kept going on and on about the same thing and the actual plot had just disappeared. I can't even remember what it was about. I read this series about five years ago, but you would think I would be able to  remember some of the plot details. But no I don't remember any details...

Full Moon #2 by Rachel Hawthorne

6192165Genre: Wolves

Series: Dark Guardian
            1. Moonlight
            2. Full Moon
            3. Dark of the Moon
            4. Shadow of the Moon
Rating:★

Goodreads Synopsis:
I may be promised to another . . . but thoughts of Rafe consume me. I don't know how much longer I can resist.

Lindsey is wild and reckless, a natural rebel - maybe because her entire life was laid out for her even before she was born. Her parents are among the most powerful members of the Dark Guardians, an ancient tribe of werewolves, and they arranged Lindsey's betrothal to Connor long ago. The next full moon is coming all too soon, and then her commitment to Connor will be final - no turning back. She should be happy . . . so why can't she stop thinking about gorgeous, brooding Rafe?

When a dangerous threat on the pack escalates, so do tensions between Connor and Rafe. A fight over Lindsey is imminent, but will it be to the death?

My Review:

I have no idea why I finished this series. The first book was eghhh... I barely finished it and I thought I'll keep reading to see if the story changes. Honestly, I couldn't even keep my eyes open let alone try to understand what was going on. I felt like the main character, Lindsey was a wuss. She had feelings for Rafe but kept them hidden and went out with another guy. She treated Brittany so badly even when she knew Brittany had feelings for the guy Lindsey was going out with. It was so confusing trying to keep up with all the characters and who they liked and didn't like. I also didn't understand the politics that were going on. At one point Lindsey had two males fighting for her to be their mate. While Brittany was lost in the woods going through her transformation. No one cared where Brittany was or if she was hurt. The author portrayed Brittany as the black sheep and everyone treated her like it. I was just annoyed throughout this book. I am so annoyed that I can't even write a proper review. SMH.

Goodreads Synopsis:

Enter a world of fierce wolves, stunning magic and romance...

Swept into the world of the Daylight Coven, Caia is caught between her loyalty to the Daylights and her new insight into the hearts of the Midnights. As more obstacles are thrown in her and Lucien's way, Caia is pushed further adrift from him and Pack Errante. With no one to turn to, Caia has to make the most difficult choice of all...

Who does she truly belong with? The Daylights or the Midnights?

YA Paranormal Romance recommended for ages 16 and up.

My Review:

What made me love this book more than the first, was how the author incorporated The Pack into Caia's life, but still somehow made it the center of the story. I have a better understanding in the politics that surround the packs and the Daylight/Midnight Covens.

River Cast started right where the first book left off. Caia is still with her pack, trying to fit in. She is helping the Daylight Coven with her visions of what's going on with the Midnights. As the days go by, Caia is more confused about this war. What was supposed to be black and white, good and evil, is now blurred lines. And since Lucian has clearly stated his feelings for Caia, she has no one left to truly confined in. She thought Lucian would be that strong rock in her life that kept everything from falling apart, but he just seems like a controlling jerk. I'm not sure how I feel about him yet, but hopefully by the third book he steps up.

One of Caia's visions lead her to the center of the Daylight Coven headquarters where she is thrown into seminars, classes, and training sessions. After meeting their leader Marita, Caia distrusts her immediately. Marita will stop at nothing to keep Caia at the Center aiding in the war against the Midnights. However, Caia knows better to trust this women not because she has a gut feeling, but because Marita tries to throw a wedge between Caia and Lucian in hopes that Caia will stay at the center.

This second installment didn't suffer from the 'second book sucks ass syndrome,' so I think that's a plus. Also the pacing was on point, the plot was suspenseful and entertaining, and the characters were easy to connect with. I liked this new take on werewolves mixed with magic. It's something new and intriguing.

Goodreads Synopsis:

Enter a world of fierce wolves, stunning magic and romance...

It’s bad enough feeling different among the human crowd, but feeling different among wolves?

No one said returning to her pack would be easy, especially after ten years without them, but seventeen year old Caia Ribeiro is unprepared for the realities of the transition. Raised in a world where kids aren't scared by bedtime tales of the bogeyman but by the real life threat of enemy supernaturals who might come creeping into their community to kill them in their sleep, Caia is used to the darkness; she’s used to the mystery and the intrigue of the ancient underworld war she’s bound to by chance of birth. What she’s having trouble with are pack members treating her with wary suspicion, the Elders tucking secrets behind their backs out of her sightline, and her young Alpha, Lucien, distracting her, with a dangerous attraction, from her decision to uncover the truth.

But as the saying goes ‘the truth will out’ and when it does, Caia will only have so long to prepare herself before the war comes pounding on their door threatening to destroy the safe, secret lives of the wolves… and the girl they protect.

YA Paranormal Romance recommended for ages 16 and up.

My Review:

The future of Caia Riberiro was set in stone long before she was born. The Mother of all Gods, in her infinite wisdom set forth a plan to end all this bloodshed and war. In order to achieve this goal, Caia is the center of it all. Hidden from her pack for the past ten years has been difficult for Caia. After her parents were killed by The Hunter, an enemy of Pack Erranter and Member of the Midnight Coven, Caia is finally allowed to return home. But her return is not exactly a welcome home party with banners and cake.

The Pack lost many family members trying to protect Caia, and in some way they blame her. She is an outsider to them who isn't to be trusted and Caia feels the same way. She knows she is different from the other Lykans, but she just doesn't know how different. She doesn't look like them, have their quick temper, and hardheadedness. But spending so much time in isolation was bound to make her actions different then the rest. When she arrives she doesn't understand the dirty looks and rudeness from the pack. But soon she realizes they are hiding secrets from her. Secrets about her family, her past, and why she has a target on her back.

So when Caia finally returns she is immediately drawn to the pack Alpha, Lucian, who is her new protector. Ohh Lucian!! He is not charming at all! He is described as good looking, muscular, and arrogant at times. I loved their interactions. He is a stubborn ass who wants everything to go his way. But Caia doesn't let him get to her in the beginning and this angers him  a lot. They go back and forth, but Lucian tries to keep away from her even though he is drawn to her. However, Lucian is hiding secrets from Caia, secrets that may cause her to leave the pack, her friends, and him behind in order to save them all. So will Caia accept her destiny and save her pack? Or will she feel betrayed and leave them behind to keep them save?

This book was truly intoxicating and entertaining. It was well written, the characters were well developed, and it was fast paced. The opening was dramatic. It hooks the reader into this world of Lykans until you finish the entire book. I loved every minute of it!

A troubled soul. An impossible choice. A final battle.

Wrestling with the werewolf curse pulsing deep inside of her, Grace Divine was finally able to find her brother, but it nearly cost her everything.

With her boyfriend, Daniel, stuck in wolf form and Sirhan's death approaching, time is running out for Grace to stop Caleb Kalbi and his gang of demons. If she fails, her family and hometown will perish. Everything rests on Grace's shoulders.

The final installment in The Dark Divine trilogy brings Daniel and Grace's love story to a breathtaking conclusion.

My Review:

This final book is filled with lots of action and suspense. It didn't disappoint. Daniel is stuck as the great White Wolf, Grace is doing everything she can by finding a cure, while controlling her wolf from changing, and worrying about her mother being institutionalized and she may never come back. Her brother is back in the picture, but he may not be trust worthy. The Lost Boys, Daniels new pack need a roof over their heads and Grace is the next thing to a leader to them. The town wants to kill the howling wolf and Caleb may come back any day to kill them all. Basically, there's a lot happening. The plot moved fairly quickly and I loved every minute of it.

The characters have come a long way from the first book. Grace is showing everyone what she is capable of. She is sweet, smart, tough, and forgiving towards Jude. Daniel has also changed. He finally steps up and admits his feels so that was a plus. And Talbot is still an interesting guy who has secrets. He's the type of guy you love to hate. The ending was well done. It tied up all the lose ends and I was satisfied with everything.

Grace Divine made the ultimate sacrifice to cure Daniel Kalbi. She was infected with the werewolf curse while trying to save him, and lost her beloved brother in the process.

Desperate to find Jude, Grace befriends Talbot, a newcomer to town. But as the two grow closer, Grace's relationship with Daniel is put in danger - in more ways than one.

Unaware of the dark path she is walking, Grace begins to give into the wolf inside of her - not realizing that an enemy has returned and a deadly trap is about to be sprung.

My Review:

Is there a club we don't know about where Authors get together and decide that the second book in their series has to be an emotional roller coaster ride? This book filled me with many emotions. Grace saved Daniel thinking everything will be okay and they will go back to their normal lives. However, Daniel becomes distant now more than ever, leaving room for a new boy to come in and sweep Grace off her feet. Grace is lonely and begins to fall into new lies and traps she doesn't see.

After all Grace has done for Daniel, he goes and treats her badly. He stops taking her calls, stands her up, and becomes emotionally different. Of course Grace is agitated and upset. Her emotions are running wild and Daniel is an idiot. But aren't all boys idiots? So Daniel leaves for the same reason all boys in the second book leave. He doesn't want to hurt her, and they are better off without them...bla bla bla. Seriously, Daniel get your head out of your ass. Step up and admit your feelings for Grace.

Meanwhile, an old threat has returned and wants revenge. And the best way to get revenge on Daniel is taking away the one person he loves, Grace. In this book Grace finds herself in a heap of trouble and just when things are about to get nasty, Daniel decides to walk into her life and flip it around. Man that dude can't decide if he wants her or not! Overall, an interesting plot, fascinating characters, and lots of action.

My Review:
Before I write my review, here is an excerpt from Bree's Website:
A prodigal son
A dangerous love
A deadly secret . . .
I stood back and watched his movements. Daniel had that way about him that could shut me down in an instant. . . . I kicked the gravel a couple of times and worked up my courage again. “Tell me . . . I mean . . . why did you come back? Why now, after all this time?”
Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared—the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood. But she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night really held. And when Daniel returns three years later, Grace can no longer deny her attraction to him, despite promising Jude she'll stay away.

This quick summary does a good job in explaining to the reader what's going on without giving away all the important details. This book was an okay read and flowed at an semi-fast pace. It kept the reader guessing what will happen next. I liked how the setting took place in special places that were significant to the main characters. However, what I didn't like about this book was the fact that it was very similar to Twilight, Vampire Academy, and Hush Hush. So if you like these books you will probably like this. The story line wasn't original, but it was readable. After looking at the cover I was hoping for something kickass to happen, but I was disappointed.
But the characters are well written. The main character, Grace is childish at times, but at least she didn't make me want to pull my hair out. As the story line grew, so did her character and that's what I wanted to see. Daniel on the other hand, was very raw as a character. He would bark, hiss and growl a lot. And somehow Grace wasn't able to figure out what he was. Over all this book was an okay read. I really hoped it would be more interesting since the cover is beautiful, but sometimes you just can't judge a book by its cover.

As Lucas and Kayla struggle with their feelings for each other, a greater danger lurks: Humans have discovered the Dark Guardians and are planning their destruction. Kayla must choose between the life she knows and the love she feels certain is her destiny.
My Short Review:
So shall we jump on the bandwagon with Twilight and Vampire Academy? But this time with werewolves.
This book is overall oaky. I pretty much had to drag myself through it since I hate not finishing a book that I start. So it was unsatisfying and very predictable. Main character falls for the hot guy, the hot guy is interested in the new mysterious hot girl, main character is jealous, and they fight bla bla bla... The characters went from sounding too young to using words that an average 17 year old wouldn't say. The werewolf 'imprinting' plot was so similar to Stephenie Myers book: Twilight and I found that to be a little boring in this book. Another thing that annoyed me about the male werewolves was that they decide on a soul mate on the basis of love at first sight. So why go and get a tattoo of the soul mate on their back? That just seemed ridiculous to me. Plus the one thing I truly didn't like was that the books in this series is told in different peoples perspective. The first book is about one couple where else the second is about another different couple. It just annoyed me to keep track of all these confusing couples. I guess that's one of my reasons why I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would.
