Goodreads Synopsis:
Once Nara combines her prophetic ability with Ethan’s power to outsmart Fate at his own deadly cat-and-mouse game, she’s more determined than ever to help Ethan learn the meaning behind the raven sword tattoo that suddenly appeared on his back after their confrontation with Fate.

During her quest to uncover the tattoo’s secrets, Nara enlists the help of some new friends and discovers her own surprising connection to Ethan.

While Nara digs deeper into the mystery, her desire for answers leads her down a dangerous path full of powerful and ruthless enemies. Swept into an age-old battle, Nara quickly learns that keeping one’s enemies close can be a necessary evil, making an intangible enemy she can control far more preferable to the human enemies she can’t.

My Review:
Lucid is such a fantastic follow-up. I loved the first book so I have been looking forward to the second and now that I have read it, I think it's AMAZING! I was sucked right back into Nara's world. From the first page till the last I was hooked. It's a quick read which I absolutely loved. It had enough suspense, romance, and curiosity to keep me entertained. In this sequel we get to meet some new characters that are fascinating and very suspicious.

Nara is an tremendous female lead. She is brave, strong, caring, very likable and completely and absolutely in love with Ethan. Oh boy...what can I say about him. Well he's supportive, caring, kind of mysterious, and absolutely perfect for Nara! They make the cutest couple and are extremely compatible. So in this book we don't get to see a whole lot of Ethan but he makes a few appearances just for Nara. As the story continues we find out Nara has been researching more about the ravens and Ethan's tattoo. She is trying her hardest to find some useful information and I find that to be the cutest thing ever. Some of the little things that Nara and Ethan do for each other just make your heart melt! But what made me mad was how Nara didn't tell Ethan some of the major things that happened to her. I get she didn't want to worry the guy but c'mon you have to tell him if your life's in danger! Besides some stupidity, I liked Nara's relationship with Lainey (reminds me of my relationship with my best friend) and the new kid Drystan. Overall, I really liked this book and can't wait to read Destiny and find out what happens with Ethan and Nara!
P.S. If you want to read the review for the first book here it is: Brightest Kind of Darkness

Goodreads Synopsis:
Nara Collins is an average sixteen-year-old, with one exception: every night she dreams the events of the following day. Due to an incident in her past, Nara avoids using her special gift to change fate…until she dreams a future she can’t ignore.
After Nara prevents a bombing at Blue Ridge High, her ability to see the future starts to fade, while people at school are suddenly being injured at an unusually high rate.
Grappling with her diminishing powers and the need to prevent another disaster, Nara meets Ethan Harris, a mysterious loner who seems to understand her better than anyone. Ethan and Nara forge an irresistible connection, but as their relationship heats up, so do her questions about his dark past.
My Review:
If you knew what was going to happen the next morning you woke up, would you consider that a curse or a blessing? Honestly, it would be pretty cool to know if you were going to get bird poop all over you, or get your purse stolen. However, for Nara it sucks. She gets to relive her day twice. Once in her dreams and then in real life. But for Nara it's getting pretty boring. She is always prepared (which is not a bad thing) and ready to tackle the day. So what's the problem? Well she is bored. Bored of knowing what's going to happen. There are no surprises for her and she's sick of that (it would totally suck for me since I love surprises).
But one day all that changes. She wakes up to realize she doesn't know what's going to happen. Nara is scared and worried since all she has ever known is her ability. At times she even relies on her ability to help her through the day. And now she doesn't have it anymore! So what has changed? Well there's a new kid in town and the loss of her abilities has something to do with his appearance. As Nara becomes friends with Ethan, the new kid, she discovers she's not the only one hiding secrets.
The plot of BKD is similar to the movie Final Destination, but without all the scary-gory stuff. The author did a wonderful job of incorporating the concept of if you know something bad is going to happen should you stop it or let nature do its thing. At one point in the book I even questioned my own beliefs and that surprised me that the author was able to get me to think since I'm very stubborn. If you are looking for something new and interesting then don't hesitate to pick this up! I definitely recommend it!!!
